This One's For You Thailand!!!

Sawatdee kap my friends! I’m writing to you all now on a very significant day here in Thailand! Today is the 86th Birthday Celebration of His Majesty King Bhumibol, the reigning King of Thailand. Happy Birthday King Bhumibol, and Happy Father's Day to all those amazing dads out there! Lucky for us, the protestors here in Bangkok have stopped rallying for the time being to pay respect to the King on his birthday. Keep your paws crossed that all remains calm on Friday...not really sure what to expect, as always, with Thai politics.

Anyways, I’m not here to chat about the current political situation here in Thailand. Tis’ the season for giving thanks and we really have a lot to be thankful for this year! First and foremost, I’d like to dedicate this post to my beloved Thailand. Thank you for gracing us with three glorious years in your amazing Kingdom.  Thank you for making some really kick ass khao soi (spicy noodle soup), for your powdery white sand beaches, and your inexpensive luxuries that we all too often take for granted. But most importantly, thank you for the lifelong friendships, the endless opportunities, the crazy adventures, the eye-opening experiences, and the everyday struggles which in their own way have made us stronger and changed us for the better. You have done more for us than you could ever imagine, and we will always be grateful for this tremendous opportunity.

So with that, here's a quick flashback of the last 21 years of my life!

Looking at these photos it really makes me realize these have been some of the best years of our lives, and I  seriously can’t believe they’re already over. We know it’s time for us to move on and start a new chapter in our lives, but part of our hearts will forever remain in Bangkok.

With only a few weeks left before our departure to beautiful Kobe, Japan, I can’t help but think back to that nerve racking, cold February morning when we left California and all the "comforts" of home. My little doxie brain was saturated with the whole spectrum of emotions: I was excited and energized, anxious and apprehensive, scared and sad (and a little loopy on some low-grade tranquilizers too!) But doing this the second time around, I can't tell you how much more confident I've become as a result of these years abroad. I know now that nothing is impossible, as long as we’re together...as a family!

Bangkok here we come!!!

Well folks, it's about time I wrap this up here. All of this reminiscing is making this wiener a bit emotional. Pull it together Remington! Don’t cry! Don’t cry!!!

This is Thai Noodle Remy here, signing off for the last time from Bangkok, Thailand. Thanks for all the memories! Kop Khun Krap! Sawatdee Krap!!!

LONG LIVE THE KING!!!

Beach Buds

What’s better than a weekend at the beach with good friends, fabulous food, and free flowing Bang-koktails?!? I can’t think of too many things that could top that, can you!? This past Easter weekend my parents took a quick little road trip with some of their closest BKK peeps and headed down to the province of Rayong. Marked by a gorgeous coastline overlooking the Gulf of Thailand, Rayong is located just about a 3 hours drive Southeast from Bangkok (if you don't get stuck in traffic, which as we all know is highly unlikely). As you'd expect I celebrated Easter a little differently, staying at the luxurious Charoensuk Doggie Hotel again. You should see how many hotel points I have by now! My parents were nice enough to give me an early Easter dinner that included yummy kibbles and Oscar Meyer sando meat, one of my all-time favorite dishes! I ain’t complaining….that stuff’s imported! It makes me feel like a premium pup!

Happy Easter!
Rim Pae Beach in Rayong, Thailand

No dogs allowed...then who's this guy?!?
Apparently my parents and their good friends had a blast down at the villa in Rayong! The stories I've heard include really, REALLY scrumptious food and daily fresh baked bread compliments of the Inquiring Chef, morning beach runs on powdery golden sand, several hysterical rounds of Catch Phrase and late night karaoke, as well as a raucous full moon beach bonfire party where (rumor has it) even a bottle of Korbel Natural champagne was toasted!

Island Hopping!!!
The Grill Master aka Daddyo!
Thai Sausage Remy is another one of my nicknames!
BBQ Chicks!
Easter Egg Strada!
Birthday Monkey Bread!
Happy 25th Birthday Momma!!!
The Crew (minus Carolee)!
Beach Bonfire! Kinda sweaty, but so much fun!
Hearing all these wonderful stories from my parents has my lil' Doxie brain thinking. In fact, I’m gonna get a little deep with you guys for a second. All of these side trips, weekend getaways, and everyday adventures me and my parents have are certainly special and memorable in their own unique way. But as proven this weekend, all of life's experiences are far better when shared in the company of close friends and those we love. I cannot begin to express how happy and fortunate we are to have met such a wonderful group of buddies here in Bangkok. It truly is comforting to know we have all these great connections around the globe, as it makes the world feel like a much smaller place. Like Tim Cahill once said “A journey is best measured in friends, rather than miles.” Tim, you took the *woof* right out of my mouth!

Until next time friends...
