Life's a Beach!

Life as an expat has it's highs and lows. I've said it a million times, but the absolute toughest part about living abroad is being away from friends and family back home in California. It's a horrible feeling missing out on all those special, milestone moments that happen only once in a lifetime. As unrealistic as it is, I wish I could be there for them all! On the plus side, however, it certainly does make the time spent together that much sweeter after a long, painful absence.

Lucky for us, we've met some amazing people (and pooches!) while living here in Bangkok, all of whom have helped keep us company over the last couple years. As you might imagine there's a tight bond between us. We're all in the same situation, facing the same day-to-day Bangkok challenges and triumphs. Our Bangkok peeps will, without a doubt, be best buds for life. It's a great feeling knowing we've got friends all around the world!

Even though we're far away from all the comforts of home, being an expat in Bangkok does have a few nice perks. For example, we can hop on a short hour-long flight and be at a beautiful beach just like this....

Koh Mook Island, Trang

Mommy and Daddy spent their Labor Day weekend with the company of some of their closest friends down at the Anatara Si Kao Resort and Spa in Trang, Thailand. Unfortunately I didn't get to tag along on this Southern Thai beach excursion, but don't worry...I was having plenty of fun hanging out with a few of my best puppy pals at my own luxury resort in Bangkok, the Asilo Pet Spa and Hotel.

Since the weather in Thailand can be quite unpredictable and rainy this time of year, the majority of tourists hold off on their SE Asian vacations until the high season. What does that mean for my parents then? They had the entire resort to themselves! They enjoyed the warm sunshine and cooled off in the pool with a few tropical cocktails. When it did cloud up and rain for a bit, they were quite content snuggling and dozing off with the wind blowing through the palms and the relaxing sound of raindrops on their beach umbrella. It doesn't get much more peaceful than that!!!

And of course no trip to the beach in Thailand would be complete without setting off a few sky lanterns! Don't forget to make a wish! ;)

Up, Up, and Away!!!

Sea shell, sea shell, by the sea shore!
I hope everyone else had a nice, relaxing Labor Day weekend! I don't know about you, but I get giddy thinking about the changing of seasons from Summer to Fall back home in California. The thought of crisp fall air, crunchy leaves, and...oh man, you don't want to know what I'd do for a pumpkin spice latte!!!! Meanwhile, we're over here stuck in an endless, steamy, hot summer! Oh well...I guess you can't win 'em all! Life sure is a beach!!!! ;)
