Hua Hin Road Trip

Ahhhhhhh. Boy am I feelin’ FRESH!!! I just woke up from a nice, long doggy nap. Well, actually it was more like a dog coma. I’ve honestly been asleep the majority of the past forty-eight hours. At least I have a good excuse for my lazy, narcoleptic behavior. It’s called...beach life. For humans a day at the beach is typically a relaxing experience. For us pooches though, (especially pups with short legs like myself) it’s absolutely EXHAUSTING!!! Don’t get me wrong, I loved every single minute of it. But my twenty-four (dog) year old body just can’t hang like it used to. Four days of long walks on golden sand beaches, swimming in the warm Gulf of Thailand, and digging for crabs in the sand made me one tired wiener!!!

Can you dig it!?!

This past weekend, my parents and I packed up and took a road trip down to the sleepy fishing town of Hua Hin, Thailand. Since typically I get left behind, I was completely thrilled to be able to tag along. It was so nice to get out of busy Bangkok and the concrete jungle and enjoy some fresh ocean air for a couple days. The stop and go traffic leaving Bangkok made me a bit car sick, but once we were out of town it was smooth sailing!!

Momma's boy!!!
Daddy's Boy! What can I say, I swing both ways!
Hairy nuts on the beach. You're lucky I shared this picture, and not some of the other nuts.

Slipping the camera some tongue!

The weather was a little stormy on Saturday, so we spent most of the day cruising around scoping out different beaches. In search of the perfect, secluded beach daddy took the rental car off road and did a bit of rally driving (don’t tell Avis!!!). It was absolutely worth it! We found a beautiful, quiet beach with no farangs (foreigners) and just a few Thai fishermen.

Go fish!

We were lucky to have some decent weather the rest of the weekend, so we spent an entire day posted up at our favorite, deserted beach spot. If you're lucky I'll share the GPS coordinates! It was an amazing day that I’ll never forget. My favorite part of course was the hot grilled meats daddy cooked up on our flowerpot bbq. Have you ever tasted hot, sizzling shrimp fresh off a flowerpot??? I have!!! Trust me on this, I’m pretty sure the flowerpot thing is going to catch on soon in the States. No more shrimps on the barbie! Before you know it, people will be throwing shrimps on the f-pot!!

Daddy getting his grill on!

Me chartering a boat this weekend. No biggie!
I sure could get used to beach life, but until my next adventure, I’m more than happy to be back home in Bangkok.  Life is good.

What are you looking at??

Reasons to Celebrate!

Good Morning! Good Evening!!! Good whatever time it is where you’re at! Hopefully it’s 5 o’clock somewhere ;)

In case you didn't know, it’s been party central over here in BKK! We just finished celebrating quite the slew of holidays, which somewhat explains why I’ve been nonexistent in the bloggy doggy world.

First off, we had a very merry Christmas and rung in the New Year with a few glasses of bubbly! Shortly after that we celebrated Chinese New Year, and welcomed the year of the Dragon with several rounds of Tsing Tao and countless char siu buns. Following the Chinese New Year we partied it up for daddy’s birthday. Happy Birthday Daddyo! 31 looks soooooo good on you!! To finish it up, we celebrated our 1st Bangkok Anniversary!!!! It’s hard to believe that we’ve already been living in Thailand a year. "Thaim" is really flying by, and what a wonderful year it’s been! We truly have so many reasons to be happy and even more reasons to CELEBRATE!!!

During this past year we’ve also met some absolutely wonderful people that will no doubt be life-long friendships. My parents have ventured out and explored Bangkok (I tend to stick to our neighborhood due to my short, stumpy legs), and after living here a year it's really starting to finally feel like home.

We’ve adjusted nicely to expat life, and my parents (as you know, I’m stuck here due to Passport issues) are thoroughly enjoying all the travel opportunities in the region. It's unbelievable...over the course of the year my small town momma has visited six new countries. Who you calling a tender foot now HGTV!?!

Just in the last two months my parents visited Indonesia and China. Back in December they jetted off to Bali for a quick Christmas getaway. The trip was definitely too short, but they managed to enjoy every moment of the sun, sand, and even some close encounters with a few monkeys! Oh did I mention the poo poo coffee (kopi luwak)? They visited a coffee plantation where the coffee berry is eaten and digested by civets. The beans are then collected, WASHED, and roasted. Apparently it's very rare, and very expensive coffee! If only I could get my paws on some coffee beans, I might have a job opportunity for myself in BKK. It can't be that hard to poop out a coffee bean, right?!?

Happy Balidays!!!
W Retreat and Spa in Bali, Indonesia

Wanna monkey around??

Finished pooduct. I mean, product.

In early January mommy accompanied daddy on a biz trip to Shanghai, and experienced her first taste of China. Minus the smog, everything in China tastes really good!!!

Row, row, row the boat!

I have two new years resolutions for 2012. #1 – I’m going lose my muffin top. #2 – I’m going to blog more often. I know what you’re thinking, I’m off to a late start. Well, over here in Asia I thought it’s only appropriate to start my resolutions based on the Chinese New Year. Although if you don’t hear from me for a while, I may have decided to hold off on resolutions until Songkran, the Buddhist New Year. If so, don’t worry. Just know that I’m celebrating, partying it up, and of course, living the Thai life :)

Trying to snag some chicken on the counter. The picture is a bit blurry, but as you can tell when I stand up straight I have a bit of a fat tire resting on my hips. Maybe it was a good thing I couldn't reach the chicken!
